Nothing Matters Like It Used to Anymore

I didn't care that you were overweight
I didn't care that you were poor
I'm still living check to check like before
we won every battle along the way
how could we lose the war
nothing matters like it used to anymore

I miss the way we used to argue
in the grocery store
we'd buy just what we needed
we always swore
now there's groceries in the living room
sticking to the floor
nothing matters like it used to anymore

I got the attic insulated

but I just can't lose the chill
when I think about what's underneath
the stone upon the hill
and when I lie down in the dark
the darkness is so still
sometimes it makes me wanna die
or it makes me wanna kill

My friends all like to tell me
that keeping busy is the cure
they didn't know you like I knew you
that's for sure
I'm gonna ask myself just one more time
what it all was for
nothing matters like it used to anymore
