The Great Fire of Mr. Smithton

The great fire of Mr. Smithton
Look inside him and you will see
Nothing but flame in every direction
And the ashes of a memory
The ashes that were you and me
And all that Smithton used to be

Imagine if all you were were flame
A human being only in name
That nothing in the world could tame
And no attack could ever maim
To everyone you'd look the same
When you go as when you came

The great fire of Mr. Smithton
Ravages the meadows and the mountain
Ravages the women and the men
Ravages even the moon and sun
And sears the lungs of everyone
Brave enough to breathe it in

Imagine if all you were were flame
A human being only in name
That nothing in the world could tame
And no attack could ever maim
To everyone you'd look the same
When you go as when you came

Is it fire that turns love to ashes
Is it fire that turns ashes to love
Is it the great fire of Mr. Smithton
Reaching from hell to heaven above

The great fire of Mr. Smithton
Look inside and you will see
Nothing but flame in every direction
And the ashes of a memory
The ashes that were you and me
And all that Smithton used to be
